ONLY UP
Only Up is a lifestyle-youth-centered brand focused on driving motivation through music, and fitness. The idea and phrase were birthed to foster resilience by communicating messages of encouragement, positivity, and endurance within its community.
THE APPROACH
During one of the creative briefs for the project, I noticed each time the client mentioned the phrase 'only up' there was an upwards-pointing hand gesture. I thought to somehow try to incorporate this gesture into the design.
VISUAL DEVELOPMENT
Early iterations of the 'up' hand gesture for the logo design.
Custom lettering with soft, round edges was used since this most comfortably translated the feeling of 'movement' and 'youth' while also being flexible enough to also work in a music spotlight with it's strokes and hand icon being reminiscent of hip-hop art graffiti.
COLOUR & POLISHING
Two sets of bright complimenting colours were chosen to help further radiate the youthful, punchy feel of the logo; the first was Marble Blue & Mint Green, and then Crimson Red & Golden Yellow.
